While walking through a board and skipping past many blue spaces and some red, Mario stepped onto a blue space with an exclamation point on it. Realizing what that space meant, he left the spot and walked to the middle of the board, where there were three floating boxes.

Koopa Troopa came up to him and said, "Welcome to the exclamation space. Hope for a reversal of fortune in this lucky event. Good luck! Different things will happen when you hit the blocks. Make perfect aim your goal. Go ahead!" He then ran off as the boxes began spinning.

Mario weighed his decisions. Princess Peach was in first place with 3 stars and 50 coins. He was in second place with 2 stars and 27 coins. Yoshi was in third place with 1 star and 39 coins. And poor Luigi was in dead last with no stars and 62 coins. Mario felt empathy for his brother as he stopped the first box when it showed Luigi.

This caused the other two boxes to spin faster. He ran to the third box and stopped it, ending on Peach. This caused the middle box to spin even faster. Mario watched as the box rapidly spun and took a deep breath, hoping that what he does will go in his brother's favor. He hopped and stopped the middle box, and it ended on... an image of a head sandwiched between two horizontal arrows.

"Huh?" Mario questioned. "I've never seen this image before."

Koopa Troopa walked up to Mario again and said, "Oh, the results are in! Why, Luigi and Peach trade heads!"

"What?!" Mario said, confused as he walked towards his space. He looked back and saw Weegee and the Princess walk to the chance boxes, and suddenly, their heads magically lifted off their bodies and then levitated over each other's before dropping down on their shoulders. Thus, Luigi now had Princess Toadstool's body from the neck down, and Peach now had the green guy's body from the neck down. "Mama mia!" Mario exclaimed.

"Mama mia indeed, Mario," Luigi said as he looked down at Peach's body. "How did this happen?"

"This is so uncouth!" Peach said as she looked down at Luigi's body.

"Hello, what's this?" Luigi observed the scoreboard. "Sweet, I'm winning!"

"Great," Peach said, folding her male arms. "Not only have I lost my elegant body, but I'm also in last place!"

"Well, unless someone uses Chance Time again, you two are stuck like this until the end of the game," Koopa said.

"Brilliant," Peach said sarcastically.

"Eh, I don't mind this," Luigi said as he slowly moved his small hands towards Peach's chest.

"Don't."

"Sorry, Princess," Luigi said as he stopped.

Next was Yoshi's turn. After breaking a number box, the lovable dinosaur walked through the board, eventually landing on a Bowser space. "Oh no," Yoshi said as the Koopa behemoth walked up to him.

"Wah, hah, HAH!" Bowser laughed. "Welcome to the Bowser space! We've plenty of fun events! Now then, choose your event by roulette!"

A screen with various Bowser events showed up in front of Yoshi, and Bowser randomly picked "Bowser's Chance Time."

"It's Chance Time!" Bowser said with delight. "This is the same lucky event you can do on the exclamation space. Okay, here we go!"

Just like Mario, Yoshi was standing in front of three floating boxes. However, the box on the right had Bowser's mug on it.

"I've stopped one especially for you," Bowser said to Yoshi. "Your chances are doubled! Now then, go ahead!" He then left as the two other boxes spun even more rapidly than the last time.

Yoshi gulped before stopping the first box, which ended on Mario. Poor Mario, he thought as he walked to the other box, thus stopping that as well. It ended on an image of a head with a right arrow under it.

Bowser returned, saying,  "Oh! We've got the results! Why, Mario's head becomes my head!"

Suddenly Mario's head began to detach from his body. "Hey, what's going on?" the confused plumber said as his head levitated towards Bowser and landed in his four-fingered clawed hands.

"Well, see ya!" Bowser said to Yoshi as he walked away, carrying his arch-nemesis's noggin. "I'll be waiting for you! Wah, hah, hah, hah!"

"Hey, let go of me!" Mario pleaded.

"You'll have to wait for the end of the game for that," Bowser coldly said as he returned to his part of the game's board.

Meanwhile, Mario's headless body just stood on the space, not moving at all.

Since all four characters' turns were over, it was time for a mini-game. The match was Mario and Peach (who landed on blue spaces) vs. Luigi and Yoshi (who landed on red spaces). And the mini-game that they were going to participate in was "Bobsled Run". In one of the bobsleds was a Luigi-bodied Peach and a headless Mario, and in the other bobsled was Yoshi and a Peach-bodied Luigi.

Yoshi stared at his L-hatted teammate, sarcastically saying, "Is this a fetish of yours?" Yoshi, of course, was referring to all the previous times that Luigi wore Peach's dress.

Luigi just sighed. "I was afraid that this would happen," he said as he looked over Peach's long white gloves.

"Be careful with my body!" Peach called from the other bobsled. She then looked at her teammate and usual rescuer, who now lacked a head. She placed a big finger on the stump on top of Mario's shoulders. "His head is in another castle," she joked.

And so, both bobsleds went down the slope. Luigi and Yoshi were in the lead, while Peach was struggling with her bobsled since her teammate literally lacked a noggin.

"Come on, Mario," Peach begged as she tugged on his arms, "or his body, at least. We're being beaten by my body."

Meanwhile, back at Bowser's space, the king of Koopas has Mario's head attached to a plaque on a wall. All Mario could do was glare angrily at his enemy, since his mouth was covered by duct tape. Suddenly he felt some gloved hands grab his arms, so he guessed that his body was paired with someone. So the plumber decided to just continue the game of Mario Party headless, even though he had no idea what mini-game he was playing.

Back in "Bobsled Run", Mario's body (which he still has control of) helped Peach guide the sled down the slope very quickly. Peach was surprised to see the red guy's headless body now moving. "Mario?" she questioned.

While the sled slid down the snow Peach got in while grabbing Mario's body. They slowly gained speed as the sled kept going, and they eventually pass Yoshi and Luigi. "What the?" Yoshi said in shock.

"Well, this is embarrassing," Luigi said, feeling like his usual disappointed self. "We're being beaten by Mario's body and my body."

Luigi and Yoshi tried their best to catch up with the other bobsled, but alas, both Peach and Mario's body won the minigame. Luigi and Yoshi both bumped into an ice wall, causing the two to get dizzy. And as a result of winning, Mario's body and Peach each received ten coins from Luigi and Yoshi.

"Ooh, did I win?" Peach said, pretending to be oblivious, just like whenever she was kidnapped by Bowser. She then thought, Oh, I am saving that phrase for later.

With Mario's head being captive by Bowser, and Princess Toadstool's and Luigi's heads on each others' bodies, this was going to be an interesting game of Mario Party.
For this next story, I decided to try something new: use the concepts of head swapping and head removing into a video game universe, i.e. the Marioverse.
So I guess this is technically my first fanfiction.
Note: This is strictly based on the first Mario Party.
So enjoy!

If you're going to make a modular Mario Party story, then couldn't you at least make the characters Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, and Pauline?
